Dixon

Sometimes you get what you wish for! I really wanted a long, lovely fall and here it is (or was)! I am so delighted to have a RED maple and sumac in my yard to show off with the beautiful golds of the maples. I even have a weeping larch, which turns golden and drops its needles, just like the magnificent sights the big ones produce in our mountains at this time of year. I managed to gather my apples before the bears took them, as they did last year. What a special time of year, as all of life prepares for the long “rest” to come. (mainly that’s we retirees, I suppose).

A big event is happening on Sunday afternoon, from 2 until 4, at the Senior Center on November 3. Our faithful supporters, workers, friends, Don and Joyce Siers will be honored at an open house as we wish them a fond good-by to life in Dixon, after 30+ years. Due to health reasons, they will be moving to Columbia Falls shortly, and will surely be missed by many friends in our area. Please join us in greeting this couple who have given so much of their time and energy in service to our community. Refreshments will be provided.

Meals are served at our center on Mondays at 5:30 and Thursdays at noon. Still only $4.00! Come have some delicious meals and get out with people! Thanks to those who generously share their home-grown produce with us, to take home or are used in meals by our cook. For the last meal of October we will enjoy Chicken and stuffing, zucchini scallop, with fruit and dessert. It’s also Halloween!

Have a nice rest-of-the-autumn season...I hear we can expect a “hard” winter. I think that depends on what you want to do!
