Mineral County Commissioners Briefs - Aug. 30 meeting

| September 4, 2013 10:25 AM

The following briefs are from the official minutes taken at the August 30 meeting of the Mineral County Commissioners.

Commissioner Laurie Johnston made a motion to freeze employee wages and salaries for the 2013-2014 fiscal year. Commissioner Duane Simons seconded in the motion and it was passed unanimously.

South Fork Nemote Creek Road Survey Invoice

County Planner Tim Read reviewed the history of Nemote Creek Road and provided a survey bill to the commission from Rocky Mountain Surveyors. Read said he has discussed the issue with the county attorney.

Ron Warren, of Rocky Mountain Surveyors, was present at the meeting and provided the commission with previous surveys of the road and stated there were no deeds filed on the previous surveys.

Developer Julie Maxwell stated she has reviewed commissioner’s minutes from when the road was first surveyed and because no deeds were on file for the road Warren is required to pin the entire road.

Read then commented that the road was deeded in 1951 and that during his tenure the county has not participated in surveys associated with subdivisions.

In addition, Read mentioned that the road survey was done without input or knowledge of the commission and as such the county has no control over the situation.

After Warren presented the invoice and pointed out the benefits of the new survey to the county it was suggested that the commission receive input from the county attorney and Jane Eby on the matter prior to making a decision.

The next meeting on this issue will take place on Sept. 13 at 10:00 am in the commissioner’s room.
