After a hard-fought loss in their season opener against Charlo, first-year Superior Bobcat quarterback Wyatt Zylawy said he was looking forward to his team sinking into a zone and firing on all cylinders.

The junior added that when the team got there they would be “unstoppable” and said he understood that in order to get there he would need to step up as a leader of the Bobcat squad.

“I just want to improve on my reads as a quarterback and mature overall as a varsity level leader and player,” Zylawy said.

On the road against another Western C powerhouse, Victor, Zylawy and the Bobcats did just what he said he was looking forward to – got into the zone.

For the first three quarters of the game the two teams went blow for blow and Superior was down 21-20 going into the fourth and final quarter of the game. However in this game the Bobcats did not slow down in the fourth – they turned on the afterburners.

In the fourth Zylawy threw three touchdown passes, two to Tucker Smith and one to Anthony Parkin.

Parkin would finish the game with five receptions for 50 yards and Smith brought in seven receptions for 70.

On top of getting in sync with his receivers, the junior quarterback got into a rhythm on the ground and capped off a 127-yard day of rushing with a huge 60-yard touchdown run that sealed the game for the Bobcats, who won 50-29.

The defense was led by Alex Billet, who not only recovered a fumble and had an interception, but had five huge solo tackles as well as being a part of a revived Bobcat defense that prides itself on team tackling.

Superior will play its first home game of the season this Friday against Seeley-Lake at 7pm.
