HOT SPRINGS – The Lady Savage Heat volleyball team dominated opponents Two Eagle River School from Pablo and the team from Superior last week winning both contests. The girls used size and strength to their advantage over teams that struggled against the offensive power and defense of the team from Hot Springs at the net.

During the match against TERS led by Meara and Laurel Schmiedbauer, the team took early leads in all three games. Consistent defense from Amanda Woods and Rosa Dolson who led the team in blocks last season allowed the team to establish a rhythm that never ceased.

With high-flying spikes from Alex Green and the Schmiedbauer twins, the Lady Savage Heat applied pressure from all angles to dispatch their opponents. The team was especially overwhelming in their frontcourt game.

Against Superior, the girl’s team faced more of a challenge but eventually pulled out a victory winning the contest three games to one. The team once again controlled the net on offense and defense.

With four returning seniors including all-conference honorable mention Meara Schmiedbauer and all-conference members Green and Laurel Schmiedbauer, the team is stacked with offensive weapons.

The team faced off with county rival Plains on Tuesday. Scores were not available at time of press.
