NOXON – The ladies of Noxon have been hard at work filling their weeks with games upon games. In a busy week of three games, the ladies are on a steady pace with another three games coming up for this week.

In the first game against Troy on September 10, the ladies lost in three sets with a final score of 21 to 25, 19 to 25 and 25 to 27.

The loss did not thwart their hopes as Head Coach Teri Wilkinson said the first game helped to set some goals.

“That was our first game so I really wasn’t all that stressed about that one because it gave us something to work on,” said Wilkinson.

Junior McKenna Krueger led the team with eleven kills, marking herself as the team’s leader.

Next in line was Arlee, a team the Lady Red Devils beat in five sets (25-23, 17-25, 25-16, 20-25, 15-12).

The close game pushed the ladies to step up to the plate and play to their full potential.

“They played really well. We had some freshmen that really stepped up and played the back row and they did well for early season,” said Coach Wilkinson.

In a fun, back and forth game, Krueger succeeded with 15 kills and Junior Tierrah Camara had 36 digs for the team.

During the game against Charlo on Sept. 14, the ladies lost, coming in close in the third set and almost extending the match another round. The final score came out to 4 to 25, 18 to 25, 24 to 26.

With the third game of the week, Coach Wilkinson believed her girls were fatigued – something the team will be working on in practice.

“We’re just going to step up our conditioning and make practice a little more intense. They are going to have to focus more,” said Coach Wilkinson.

Both the junior varsity and varsity teams will have separate drills, splitting up the combined practice and allowing the varsity to focus on different aspects of the game more intensely.

On Tuesday night the girls played Clark Fork in a home game. Scores were unavailable at the time of press but the girls were set out to prove a mission.

“After getting beat so badly on Saturday I know they have something to prove so I’m thinking they will come out firing,” said Coach Wilkinson.

Then the team will play Hot Springs, sparking up the county rivalry once again as they try to take a victory from the Lady Savage Heat volleyball team.

Hot Springs is predicted to be one of the top teams in the district and Coach Wilkinson hopes the team will be able to keep pace with them and pull out a win.

The game will be at Hot Springs, , Thursday Sept. 19.
