Repairs to ceiling completed, library reopens

After the ceiling collapsed in the extension office portion of the Mineral County Library building in Superior this June, the library was shut down while repairs were made.

From July 25 to August 22, the Superior Assembly of God Church housed a temporary library that was open on Thursday afternoons. Repairs to the building were completed on September 4 and the library portion reopened on September 5.

“We will have a building wide grand opening when all of the offices are open for business,” Guna Chaberek, Director of the Mineral County Public Library System said. “The contractor’s did a great job and the staff has been busily putting the library back to rights.”

According to Chaberek, the repairs to the building consisted of replacing the drywall on the ceilings as well as repainting walls, reinstalling overhead lights and finally returning the library books and shelves to the premises.

The hours at the Superior Library will remain the same as prior to the closure (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10:30am to 6:00pm) and Chaberek said they will be continuing with the Mother Moose Tales Storytime on Thursdays.

For Chaberek and the rest of the staff at the Superior Library, the homecoming is a welcome one.

“We are all very happy to be back home and would love to find fresh books and materials for all of our patrons,” Chaberek said.
