They came, they glowed and they danced in Haugan this weekend at the two-day long Shine Intergalactic festival.

Fields traditionally used for the annual Mudfest event were transformed into a series of stages of various shapes and sizes and the event featured a variety of electronic and dub-step DJs from throughout the nation – including acts from Chicago and New York.

“We just wanted to create a positive space for the community to come and showcase their artistic talents,” event organizers said.

The positivity was felt throughout the grounds of the festival – with over 1,000 people from all over the Pacific Northwest dancing the night away to the bumping beats of the various DJs.

Also in attendance were several performers, who engaged in acrobatic feats on the main stage to the awe of the crowd.

Local businesses were encouraged to participate and local eatery Jackie’s Home Cooking went mobile and provided food to hungry festival goers during the event.

If the numbers alone are any indication of the events success then this was certainly a successful first effort for bringing the festival to Haugan. Event organizers said they hope to continue to build and grow the event while gathering more and more local support and participation.
