SUPERIOR - The Superior High School Business Professionals of America played a little March Madness of their own Friday night as students and staff duked it out on the court at SHS, but in a fun way.

The tenth annual BPA dodgeball fundraiser started with a round robin competition and ended with a bracket style double elimination tournament.

The event raised $300 from team registrations while other donations were made by Superior Mountain Mudd and the 50,000 Silver Dollar, said Jamie Toivonen, event organizer and business education teacher at SHS.

“Five teams participated, which was the least amount ever,” Toivonen said.

The BPA does frequent fundraising throughout the school year so the group can pay for travel expenses to different colleges throughout the state for competition including regionals in Missoula, said Sierra Bruning, junior and vice president of the BPA.

“BPA allows students to compete in business events to prepare for business occupations,” Bruning said.

The group has raised at least $1,000 this school year by donations from events like three-point shootouts, pizza sales and soda crushes on Valentines Day, Bruning said.

The Staff Infection, the SHS staff team who donned matching red and white Bobcats windbreakers, faced team Ramrods, the SHS student team for the double elimination championship where The Staff Infection came out on top. Other students from Charlo and St. Regis also participated in the event.
