Madplume sentencing delayed

| April 2, 2014 2:03 PM

POLSON — Ronan resident Melvin Madplume, Jr. will have to wait awhile longer to learn his fate after a delay in his pre-sentencing psychosexual evaluation caused his sentencing to be pushed from March 28 to April 8.

A jury found Madplume, 30, guilty of deliberate homicide and sexual intercourse without consent on Saturday, February 1.

The charges stemmed from the rape and death of his cousin, Laurence Kenmille, last May in a private room at Wild Horse Hot Springs near the town of Hot Springs. Madplume faces life in prison.

He is currently being held in Lake County Jail, according to County Attorney Mitch Young. District Court Judge John Larson set bond for $1 million.
