Dixon

Isn’t it great to finally make it to April? Who minds the showers (it’s supposed to happen), and though I always wait for that LAST big snow blast, I know it won’t last long. We gardeners are checking eagerly to see what’s come up after winter’s sleep. Happily, I found one crocus, and plenty of daffodils, tulips, hyacinths, grape hyacinths...and my faithful bleeding heart is pushing through for the 13th year! There is one new wildlife seen for the first time--a red squirrel scurrying across the deck. Why--after all these years? Last year the chipmunks invaded, so far I’ve seen just one. This morning it looked right in my deck window, as if wondering-- where is the cat that chased me all summer?

Our little community recently celebrated the life and love of one of our beloved seniors--Faye Pitts. It was a warm and comforting memorial service at the Dixon School gym, where Faye and Gene had spent many times supporting their family. She was a special lady who brightened anywhere she was! She is missed.

Joyce Siers, who recently moved to Columbia Falls, was a welcome visitor recently. She looked lovely, and was happy to be in the center again. Friends of Joey and Harley Hettick also visited for dinner. Drew Imes and wife, Kaileen traveled from Williston, ND. This is a good place to bring company for dinner...close by and the price is great! Did you know the Center is for rent if you have a special event? Showers, receptions, memorial dinner, etc., have all been celebrated here. Marie Ardis just hosted a big family gathering to celebrate SIX anniversaries, from 25-50 years! Call Delene Tuffly when the center is open, 246-3310, or 246-3271 for more information.

Please note that our Monday meal changed time with the first Monday in April. It will now be served at 6 p.m. instead of 5 p.m. Thursday’s meal remains at noon. And the menu coming up is:

Thurs. April 10 Brunch for lunch Quiche/ham, pancakes

Mon. April 14 Creamy tuna casserole

Thurs. April 17 Chili dogs

Mon. April 21 Roast turkey breast

Thurs. April 24 Swiss steak

Please join us for a good meal and good company.

All ages are welcome to join us. Takeouts are available.

The pinochle players will meet at 7 p.m. each fourth Monday. The next game time is April 28. Scores in March were High score - Sharon Guenzler, Low was Carie Faulkner, Anita Seibert had the most pinochles, and Bob Watson took home the door prize.

Enjoy the rest of this month, and all the changes that will be happening!
