Letter to the Editor: St. Regis Levy

On May 6th the St. Regis School District is running a technology levy. This is a levy that needs to be renewed every ten years. As you decide whether or not to support this levy please consider a few things.

One, this levy has been the same for the past ten years. In that time the cost of maintaining and replacing equipment has risen dramatically. Two, the availability and amounts of grants have decreased, while the competition for the grants has increased. Three, our students have the opportunity to learn how to use the technology they will need to succeed once they leave high school, whether that is in college, trade school, or the work place. Finally, please think about how well your dollars will serve our students.

For less than $20.00 a year on a $100.000.00 home or less than $36.00 on a $200,000.00 home, you can provide the needed technology to help prepare the students of today to become the leaders of tomorrow.
