Thompson Falls, Plains compete at Bigfork Invite

Both track and field teams competed in Bigfork until the weather called the meet after five events

BIGFORK – Both Plains and Thompson Falls competed at the Bigfork Invitational on Saturday, April 12 and both teams saw athletes excel in the competition, which was suspended after five events.

Nicole Rehbein of Plains took first place in the 100 meters with 13.13, while Shannon Dimond brought in fourth for the Trotters at 13.78.

In the 1,600, Kimberley Earhart of Plains secured second with a time of 5:50.26 and Demi Horton took sixth with 6:09.00.

In the hurdles, Lady Hawk Autrey Hannum beat out Hailey Phillips from Plains in a surprise win. Freshman Hannum had a time of 16.66, while Phillips ended with 16.86. Padden took fifth place with 17.88.

In the long jump, Phillips took first with 15-.475, while Carley VonHeeder dominated the javelin, taking first with 126-10. Earhart came in third with 116-7 and Leah Thompson ended in sixth with 101-0.

In the boys 100 meters, McKenzie Holt took third place with a time of 11.38.

Russell Kujala of Plains took second place in the 1,600 meter with a time of 4:56.56, while Bluehawk Kyle Kennick took third with 4:57.30 and Logan Naegeli took fifth with 5:04.00.

Ben Gorham won the shot put for Plains with a length of 48-2.5.

After the short day, the teams will be more than rejuvenated for the Thompson Falls Invitational on Thursday, April 17.
