Savage Heat place fourth at TF Invitational

THOMPSON FALLS – The Hot Springs boys track and field team placed fourth at the Thompson Falls Invitational on Thursday April 17.

The Savage Heat were bolstered by strong performances in several different events, finishing with at team score of 67 points.

Notably, Tanner Hoff and Jarrod White notched up first place finishes for the Hot Springs boys.

Hoff performed impressively in the javelin competition, finishing with a distance of 171-9, a result that left him comfortably in first place.

The javelin throw was not Hoff’s only event, and he compiled second place finishes in both the 110-meter hurdles and the 300-meter variety. Hoff tallied a 17.59 and 42.40 respectively in these events, while finishing third in the high jump with a 5-6.

White took home first place in the triple jump, edging out a competitor from Thompson Falls to win with a 40- 3/4 jump.

White was also involved in a rare tie in the long jump event. Both he and Gabe Hickman of Troy ended the competition with a 19-1 ¾.

In other events, Blaine Carr placed sixth in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:25.24.

Anthony Byrns put together a solid afternoon with a second place finish in the 200 meters with a time of 24.24 and a fourth place result in the 100 meter dash, where he clocked in at 11.80.

Nate Gray threw a 105-1 ½ to take sixth place in the discus toss and Trevor Paro jumped a 18-10 ½ to finish fifth in the long jump.

Collectively, the Savage Heat relay team pulled together for a fourth place finish in the 400-meter relay with a final time of 48.43.

Next weekend, Hot Springs Track and Field will head to Missoula for the Seeley-Swan Meet, which will be held at Big Sky High School.

The meet is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m., as the Savage Heat look to build off several strong performances as the season continues.
