Thompson Falls takes first, second at home

THOMPSON FALLS – On their home turf, the Bluehawk track and field team secured first place, while the Lady Hawks were able to take second place.

The damp conditions didn’t seem to hinder any of the athletes as they gave it their all and dominated the competition.

The boys took the invitational with 131 points in all, almost 12 points ahead of Charlo who landed in second place.

Bluehawk Dylan Vaught took first place in the 200 with a time of 23.78, second place in the 100 with 11.69 and also went on to take second place once again in the triple jump with a length of 39-7 ¾.

McKenzie Holt gave a strong performance and took first place in the 100 with 11.54. He also went on to take third place in the 200 with a time of 24.25.

In the 800, Kyle Kinnick took second place with 2:15.28 and later went on to take third place in the 1,600 with a time of 4:55.71.

Teammate Tyler Riffle followed Kinnick’s performance in the 800 and took third place with 2:15.89.

Trais Hoisington was able to take fifth place in the same event with a time of 2:24.41.

Tanner Laws placed in multiple events and came out in third place in the 1,600 with 4:56.31. He also took third place in the 3,200 with 11:01.71.

William VanHuss took fourth place in the 3,200 with 11:19.99.

The 400-relay team finished in third place with a time of 47.55, and the 1,600-relay team took second place with a time of 4:02.29.

The boys’ strong performance continued into the throwing and jumping events where they had ten placers in all.

For the discus competition, Bluehawk Kolton Fowl took fourth place with 111-11, while Kolt Shaw took fifth place with 108-0. Shaw also took fourth place in the shot put with 41-1 and fifth place in the javelin with 140-5.

Dieterich House took fourth place in the javelin with 141-0 and also secured fifth place in the shot put with 38-4 ½ feet.

Joe Lundberg finished in sixth place for the high jump with a height of 5-0.

During the pole vault competition, Jake Gascon tied Kyle Couture of Charlo for second place with a height of 10-6, while Joe Lundberg took fourth place with 10-6.

As for the girls, the Lady Hawks finished the day with 108 points, just behind the Plains Trotters.

Autrey Hannum had a strong performance as she took first place in the 100 hurdles with 16.98, second place in the triple jump with 33-4 ¼, third place in the high jump with a height of 4-8, sixth place in the 200 meter with 29.59.

Aicia Curran took first place in the 3,200 with an impressive time of 14:44.94, fourth place in the 1,600 with 6:21.43 and sixth place in the 800 with a final time of 2:51.55.

Senior Angela Padden took second in the 100 hurdles with a time of 18.26, managed another second place in the pole vault competition with a height of 8-0, and landed fourth place in the 300 hurdles with 51.64,

Shey Hannum took first place in the high jump with a height of 5-0, third in the 300 hurdles with 51.40 and brought in another third place win in the triple jump with a length of 32-6 ½ feet.

Logan Beckman helped her team out by throwing a distance of 81-11 in the discus competition, taking fifth place and also finishing fourth place in both the javelin and shot put with a length of 105-1 ½ and 31-5 ½ respectively.

Shasta Wilson took fifth in the javelin with 104-8 and Madison Wheeler also took fifth in the pole vault competition with 6-6.

The girl’s 400-relay team finished fourth with a time of 57.40 and the 1,600-relay team came in second with a time of 4:39.54.

Overall, both teams exhibited a strong performance on the field and look to continue their winning streak.

The team will go on to compete at the Seeley Swan Invite on Saturday, April 26.
