Letter to the Editor: YOU need to VOTE
Editor,
Have we lost our country? Is the American way of life to become a blip in history? Are we and our children to become ‘subjects’ of a tyrannical government?
Based on the evidence recently, it would seem so! Lies from Washington, broken promises from almost every elected leader!
Why is all this happening?
There are trends here that are very disturbing, and all point to the government wanting to gather more power and control over all of us ‘subjects’. I thought we forbid that when we broke away from Britain in 1776?
So what can we do? What can YOU do? Vote! Vote in the primary! Vote in the general elections!
Election statistics show that only 67 percent of eligible citizens (subjects?) are registered to vote. In the last few decades, only half of them vote in a presidential election (that’s 36 percent). That means that only 18 percent of eligible citizens determined the outcome of the last presidential election! You didn’t vote? Shame on you!
There are more conservatives than progressives. If we had all voted, the outcome of the election would have been different, regardless of voter fraud.
Above, I asked you to vote in the primary election. WHY you ask? Because that is where the best candidates are! There are four Republican candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives in the primary election. I find only one of them very good!
WE are responsible for this mess we are in.
WE and past generations have put more value in the distractions presented to us than in OUR civic duty to our heirs.
Pay attention! Read the constitution to see what your elected representatives swear to ‘protect and defend against all enemies, foreign and domestic.’ Find good candidates, support them and VOTE! Maybe we can save our country for our grandchildren!
Who we elect has consequences!
