Rural Fire Department and Hospital Election canceled

SANDERS COUNTY – Due to a limited amount of nominations, the Rural Fire and Hospital Election that would have been held on May 6 has been canceled.

The nomination period for the rural fire and hospital district recently closed.

As for the Conservation District, the election is scheduled to take place on November 4 along with the general federal election.

According to Elections Administration Assistant, Bobbi Christenson, the filing date for nominations has closed, however, anyone who wishes to run for the Conservation District positions as a write-in has until Sept. 26 by 5 p.m. to do so.

“If no one has filed a Declaration of Intent by the deadline (Sept. 26 by 5 p.m.), the election administrator will cancel the Conservation District Election also,” Chirstenson said.

The Dixon Rural Fire District had no one file for their three-year term.

For the Heron Rural Fire District, Dillion Lee filed. According to the candidate sheet, three positions were available: Dillion Lee and James N. Greiner, both three year terms and Mike Hardin, a one year term.

Two incumbents filed for the Hot Springs Rural Fire District, a three-year term. John Bras and John Swope filed for the two positions available.

The Noxon Rural Fire District also had two incumbents file as Tony Mascaro and Harley G. Allder put in for the two positions.

David F. Colyer and John J. Holland Jr. filed for the Plains/Paradise Rural Fire District. Both candidates are incumbents.

For the two positions available in the Thompson Falls Rural Fire District, one incumbent filed: Clarence Curry. No one filed for the position currently held by Robert Cirolia.

For the Trout Creek Rural Fire District, Dave Anderson and Barbara Wooden filed for the two positions. Both are incumbents.

As for the Eastern Sanders County Hospital District, Raymond Flesh filed for a three-year term, while John Bras filed for a one-year term. Both are incumbents.

Dillion Lee filed for the Noxon Heron Public Hospital District, a four-year term. Lee is the only one who filed and is the incumbent.

As for the Eastern Sanders County Conservation District, Matthew R. Diehl and Lando R. Bras filed for the four-year term. Both are incumbents, however, three positions were available overall. According to the candidate list, Marvin L. Rehbein currently holds the remaining position. Rehbein filed for the position, but did so after the filings had already closed. The board will be notified of his interest in the position.

Lastly, two candidates filed for the Green Mountain Soil and Conservation District. Incumbents Dillion Lee and William D. Naegeli filed. One more position is still available. Currently Jay Stuckey holds that position.
