Bobcats continue undefeated winning streak

SUPERIOR – The Superior Bobcats took two victories last week at their away games against Thompson Falls and Hot Springs.

When the Bobcats went to Thompson Falls on Tuesday, January 28, they came away with a close victory of 46 to 40. The game saw a second-half push to victory after the teams tied at the end of the first half.

Both teams had strong offenses. The half ended with a tie of 20 to 20.

The second half saw the Bobcats and Bluehawks maintain a close game as they fought hard. The Bobcats managed to make a final push and brought in a few more points in each quarter to pull ahead.

The game ended with the Bobcats ahead by six points.

Senior Jarrod Tippens had a strong game and was the lead scorer with 18 points. He was followed by Tucker Smith who brought in 10 points.

The boys had another game against Hot Springs on Friday, January 31. They came away with a second victory with a final score of 82 to 56.

The Bobcats rose up with a strong offense throughout the first half. This led them to push their scores higher as they broke the lines of the Savage Heat.

The second quarter saw both teams warm up as they improved their tactics against the other team’s defenses. The first half ended with a score of 35 to 18. The second half saw a closer game where Hot Springs began to catch up.

The third quarter was a nearly even match as the Savage Heat was able to match how many points they made with Superior. The quarter ended with Hot Springs getting one more point than the Bobcats. However, it still was not enough for Hot Spings to pull ahead and the quarter ended with a score of 55 to 39.

The fourth quarter saw the Bobcats regain the advantage in their defense. The boys were able to keep Hot Springs to a low number of points as they brought in 10 more than their opponents.

Junior Wyatt Zylawy shined and was decidedly the top scorer of the game with 23 points. Tippens and senior Clint Voll were close behind with 20 and 19 points respectively.

The Bobcat’s next game will be at home on Thursday, February 6, against Charlo at 7 p.m. There will be another game on Saturday, February 8, against Two Eagle River.
