THOMPSON FALLS – The Lady Hawks only played one game last week but they played it well.

After bad road conditions canceled the ladies game against Superior on Thursday, January 30, the ladies were left with their game against Troy on Saturday, February 1.

The Lady Hawks came out victorious with a 44-32 win over the Lady Trojans.

The game seemed to be an easy win for the ladies as they steadily created a deepening lead throughout the game. That lead would seal the deal for the Lady Hawks.

Shey Hannum brought in the first points of the game and continued to add to the scoreboard throughout the first quarter. After a number of free throws, the ladies ended the quarter ahead by six points with a score of 11-5.

In the second quarter Troy sunk the first basket but their efforts were thwarted as the Lady Hawks retaliated point by point. Both teams were only able to put up four points each in the second quarter.

In the third quarter Troy once again shot a few baskets but then Erica Sorlie changed the pace of the quarter by sinking in two points.

Troy started advancing on Thompson Falls and brought the score within two points but their efforts fell short. Madison Fitchett decided to change the pace by putting in a basket and Logan Beckman followed her lead with a three-pointer. The ladies ended the third with a score of 34-21, securing their victory.

The fourth quarter heated up as Troy attempted to jump in the lead but was unsuccessful, ending the game in the Lady Hawks favor, 12 points ahead of the Lady Trojans.

The girls will play two games next week. Thompson Falls will go on to compete against Plains on Thursday, Feb. 5 and will then face Eureka at home on Saturday, February 8.
