THOMPSON FALLS – The Bluehawk wrestling team came home from the Divisional Tournament with a small taste of success. The team was able to place three wrestlers on Saturday, Feb. 8 in Ronan.

Lena Babcock at 98 pounds and Colton Bray at 146 pounds took third place, while Kyle Milner at 160 pounds took fourth place.

Although Head Coach Ian Taylor had hoped to place more wrestlers at the tournament, he was happy with their performances.

“Those guys wrestled well,” Coach Taylor said. “They are all pretty excited about going and it should be a good tournament.”

Only days away from the State Tournament in Billings, the wrestlers are excited for what is ahead of them and so is Coach Taylor. He reiterated the tournament is the reason the wrestlers work so hard all year. Their dedication will come down to the moment when they step foot on the mats in the MetraPark arena.

The team should arrive in Billings around 3:30 p.m. on Friday. After an hour of practice, the team will get some rest and wake up in the morning ready to weigh in and wrestle.

Right now, Coach Taylor is making no predictions.

“All I want them to do is go out there and wrestle their best. The rest should take care of themselves,” Coach Taylor said. “I’m just looking for their best efforts.”

The team is staying with what they know and the wrestlers will work on nothing new in the practices leading up to their departure.

If things go their way, the Bluehawks may come home with some hardware. This would be a token to their hard work and dedication. But even if they come back without anything, the wrestlers will know they competed to the best of their abilities.
