HOT SPRINGS – The Chamber of Commerce gathered for their monthly meeting Thursday, February 6 to discuss upcoming projects and events.

The first thing on the agenda was to discuss the progress of the Anderson Radio Broadcasting campaign the chamber had previously agreed to do.

The purpose of the campaign was to attract visitors to Hot Springs. The advertising highlights the best qualities of the town such as the various rejuvenation services that are available.

The commercial ads have been running on the River radio station and the prize drawing is ongoing as well.

The chamber got nine local businesses to donate to the cause – a prize package which includes a weekend getaway and over $500 worth of prizes. Boxes have been set up around the town for any who wish to enter. There is no fee so there is nothing to lose but much to gain.

The chamber has decided to thank the local business for contributing to the ad campaign by giving back. The chamber will give the local businesses that donated some money in return.

The next item the chamber discussed was the approaching production of Cinderella. The Missoula Children’s Theater will be performing in Hot Springs February 17-21 at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.

According to their website, the theater troupe dates back to the 1970s when Founder Jim Caron realized the benefit of involving children in the arts. The Missoula Children’s Theater has been going strong ever since.

The Hot Springs Artists Society will be putting on an ice cream social the same day.

The Chamber of Commerce then moved on to discussing summer events.

The historical Chautauqua Circus will be traveling to Hot Springs sometime towards the end of July. They are a no-animal circus and instead focus more on the Vaudeville show. This will be the first time the Chautauqua Circus has traveled to Hot Springs.

Local Linny Gibson hopes to take advantage of the presence of the performers. Every year, Gibson puts on a summer arts camp in August and this year she would like to have a circus act theme.

She hopes to borrow some of the Chautauqua performers to help teach the children some new entertainment skills such as juggling, hoop jumping or rope walking.

The next Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce meeting will be March 7th on Thursday.
