Lady Bobcats fight hard against Charlo Lady Vikings
SUPERIOR – The Lady Bobcats took a 23 point loss on Friday when they went up against the Charlo Lady Vikings.
The girls got off to a slow start in the first quarter as they struggled against Charlo’s defense. They were able to break through and make a few baskets. The first quarter ended with a score of 3 to 14.
In the second quarter, the girls come back and bring in more points. Both teams had a good game and broke through the other team’s guards. The scoreboard read 14 to 28 at the end of the first half.
As the second half began, the Lady Vikings came out strong and were able to keep the Lady Bobcats from the basket. Superior was able to fight back and added to their own score as they broke through the lines. The quarter ended with a score of 22-46.
In the last quarter of the game the Superior girls played their best defense of the game. The team kept their opposition to a handful of points as they fought their way to the buzzer. The game’s final score was 28 to 51.
Sophomore Marissa Koke stood out in a strong game, while she brought in 11 points. The rest of the team’s points were split evenly among Nadeia Ewoniuk, Danielle Ewoniuk, Celein Parkin, Jordan Mueller and Anesa Ruiz.
The girls had another game last week against Two Eagle River. No information about the outcome of the game was available.
Superior will have two games next week. On Thursday, Feb. 13, the Lady Bobcats will go up against their county rivals, the St. Regis Lady Tigers at home. Then, on Friday Feb. 14, they will travel to Noxon to play against the Lady Red Devils.
These will be the last games of the regular season before teams enter the District Tournament in Ronan.
