Noxon girls go on to District Tournament
NOXON – The Lady Red Devils pulled together to put up plenty of points on the board this week. Despite their efforts, the team was unable to pull out a win but the time on the court helped the team work on a few things before heading into tournament season.
In their first game of the week, Noxon played Superior where they fell 29-42.
Noxon was able to put up three points to Superior’s 18 points in the first quarter and although they put up a solid 17 points in the third quarter, it wasn’t enough.
Kristin Webley put up 10 points in the game, while Zoey Osborne put up eight points. Asiah Jensen, Cory Brodmerkle and Kamber Torti all added to the team’s total.
As the week continued, the Lady Hawks came to Noxon to compete in a rival game. The crowd was pumped up to see the two competitors and the ladies fed off the energy throughout the game.
Thompson Falls came out of the gate strong and put a lead on the board early on. In the first quarter Noxon put up two points to their opponent’s 18 points. In the second quarter, things looked up for the Lady Red Devils as they were able to make 12 points. However, this would not continue and Thompson Falls overpowered the young team. The final score ended in Thompson Falls’ favor with a score of 28-67.
Webley put up an impressive 16 points in the game, while Osborne had four points. Jenna Langdon put up three points, while both Jensen and Katie Chandler had two points. Brodmerkle was able to put up a free throw during the game.
The team will go on to compete in Ronan. Their first game will be Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
