Dixon

Winter has returned (again and again) and it’s less than a month until Spring. I’ll eagerly be watching for early signs....I’m so sure I heard a Spring bird song yesterday. My great hunter, Toby, (cat) brought in the first vole of the season, proudly displayed on a scatter rug. At least our region has power, propane, and pride!

We are so fortunate to live where winter does not devastate us nor shut down services.

We were pleased to have the Dixon School Honor Roll students join us for a turkey lunch last week. They had a nice day to walk over from school, accompanied by our new-this-year principal, Kelly Moore. It was his first time coming with the students, and everyone was on their best behavior, as usual.

Some of the delicious meals coming up will be:

Thurs. Feb. 27 Roast beef

Mon. March 3 Cabbage rolls

Thurs. March 6 Sloppy Joes

Mon. March 10 Pork chops

Thurs. March 13 Brunch for lunch: omelet, biscuits 7 gravy

Mon. March 17 Corned beef & cabbage (of course!)

Remember, meals are only $4 and you can take some home, or to a neighbor! Lunch is served each noon on Thursday, and dinner is at 5 p.m. on Mondays.

Harley and Joey Hettick returned safely and happily from their trip through the Panama Canal recently. They enjoyed the cruise ship and were pleased with the health safety precautions taken to prevent some of the troubles that have occurred on some cruises. Joey said it “Was just wonderful!”

It’s nice that Allene Cole has been able to join us for lunch occasionally, since she moved to stay with a daughter near Charlo. It is also good to have Jean Nemeth show up again after a long absence. She makes the journey from Camas Prairie, for a delicious lunch with us!

Happy belated birthday to our important members at Dixon Senior Center--Diane Groh on Feb. 2 and Delene Tufly on Feb. 26. We greatly appreciate what you do to keep our center going!

Martha Cole Jenkins,

Secretary
