Scholarship offers $1,000
SANDERS COUNTY – The chance to win $1,000 is close at hand. Student applications are currently being accepted for the annual Montana Association of Clerk and Recorders Scholarship.
The MACR scholarship is awarded to a student who has shown excellent academic prowess and a hard work ethic. Applicants must be graduating seniors who plan on attending an in-state college or university.
Sanders County Clerk and Recorder Nicole Scribner has supplied the local high schools with the necessary information and paper work for any who wish to apply.
According to Scribner, two student applicants will be selected from our district which also includes Flathead, Missoula, Mineral, Lincoln and Ravalli counties. Those final two applicants will then be moved forward to the state Clerk and Recorder who will pick the final winner.
Applications can be obtained from a school counselor and should be returned to them or sent directly to the Clerk and Recorders’ office in the Sanders County Courthouse.
The deadline for application submission is March 17. District judging will take place on or before April 10 and the two district finalists will be chosen. The state-wide finalist will be selected on May 1. The local school counselor and Clerk and Recorder of the winner will then be notified.
The winner will receive a certificate of achievement on the awards day at the school of the lucky student. The check will be made out to the winner’s future college or university.
“It would be great to get more applications because that deadline is fast approaching,” Scribner said.
