Free yoga offered to vets

HOT SPRINGS - Earth & Sky Studio in association with Nyah Grange 133 in Hot Springs is offering a free series of yoga classes for veterans every Saturday from Jan. 25th through March 1st, at which time the class can decide to continue weekly or bi-weekly; or possibly in an alternative location. All veterans, all ages are invited to participate in this free six week series. The classes will run 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Earth & Sky Studio, 240 Chisholm Trail Rd. in Hot Springs.

Wear comfortable clothes like sweat pants. All equipment is provided.

The ancient practice of Yoga has been proven effective for veterans seeking relief from symptoms of PTSD and TBI, sleeplessness, anxiety, substance abuse, chronic pain and other service and life related challenges. Studies from Harvard, the National Institutes of Health, the Veterans Administration and more have verified the effectiveness of yoga for veterans when practiced regularly. The yoga exercises can be modified to fit all levels of fitness for the individual therefore any special needs are addressed.

The instructor, Nisca Warthen, has been teaching since 2000 and is registered with the Yoga Alliance as an experienced yoga instructor. Her background includes over 1000 hours of training in the realms of anatomy, mental health, breath work, massage, and various yoga practices. Nisca is a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists, is a licensed Massage Therapist, and a Certified BodyTalk Practitioner.
