Lady Tigers take a victory and defeat

ST. REGIS – The Lady Tigers went 1:1 in their games against Two Eagle and Arlee last week.

In the game against Two Eagle, Wednesday January 8, the girls came away victorious with a final score of 58-21. The girls had a great game with a powerful defense, which kept the opposition’s scores low.

Sophomore Pilar Cantrell-Field dominated the court as she scored 19 points for St. Regis. Fellow freshman Madison Hill was right behind her with 15 points. Junior Gabby Moeller and senior Arianna Jones both brought in 11 points with freshman Courtney Cheesman bringing in two.

When the team faced Arlee on Friday, January 10, they walked away with a 54-65 loss. The game was close and both teams maintained big scores throughout all four quarters.

After a hard first quarter, which ended with a final score of 14-27, the girls rallied and started to fight back. In the second quarter, the Lady Tigers’ offense was on fire and they kept the Lady Scarlets to three points scored in the quarter. The end of the half saw a score of 27-30.

Jones had an excellent game with a team best of 16 points scored. Hill continued to perform well and scored 15 points. Moeller, Cantrell-Field and Cheesman were also among the main scorers again.

Head Coach Tyler Hurley could not be reached for comment.

The Lady Tigers played a home game on Tuesday, January 15, against Superior. Information on the outcome of the game was not available at the time of press.

The girls’ next game will be Friday, January 17, against the Hot Springs Lady Red Devils at 7 p.m.
