PLAINS - The Trotters came out ready to charge in the battle against Whitefish Friday night.

Hailey Phillips and Kayla Homes started the game off by scoring early. Kimberly Earhart made two nice baskets, ensuring the lead at 10-2. Carley VonHeeder shot a perfect three-pointer with seven seconds left in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Earhart worked hard to keep the ball in play. She made a nice three-pointer, lighting up the scoreboard 24-9 with four and a half minutes in the second. Leah Thompson had a smooth steal from Whitefish and passed the ball to Phillips. Phillips shot a three-pointer making the score 27-9 with less than a minute in the first half.

Chaos ensued as ball possession rapidly switched from team to team in the second quarter. Earhart stole the ball from Whitefish but they immediately took it back. Earhart tried again and stole the ball a second time. She passed it to Phillips who scored giving the Trotters a 22 point lead over Whitefish.

Earhart and VonHeeder rushed down the court together and scored before the others had a chance to catch up. Their efforts resulted in a score of 33-12 with 30 seconds left in the second quarter. Earhart made a three-pointer directly afterwards which made the score 36-12 going into the second half.

In the third quarter, the Trotters continued to play tirelessly against Whitefish. Thompson scored quickly in the third quarter bringing the score up 40-12. VonHeeder and Holmes each scored one right after the other. A nothing-but-net three-pointer shot by Phillips made the score 54-12 going into the final quarter.

Jade LaDeaux was fouled in the fourth quarter with one minute left on the clock. She made two perfect free-throws with 40 seconds left in the game. The Trotters maintained their intensity until the end and the final score was 59-14.

The victory was welcome after the loss of a close away game two days earlier. The Trotters lost by single digits to Ronan. The final score was 38-43.

Next week the Trotters face off against Bigfork at home this Thursday. They will travel to Troy on Friday.

Head Coach Richard Griffin was unavailable for comment at the time of press.
