THOMPSON FALLS – The Bluehawks soared past Libby this Friday bringing home a 59-54 victory.

The game was close but Thompson Falls pulled ahead early on in the game and continued to hold that lead throughout the showdown.

In the first quarter, the Bluehawks brought in 20 points with Libby three points behind. As they advanced further in the game they continued to outscore Libby in every quarter but the fourth. During that quarter Thompson Falls brought in 12 points to Libby’s 19 but the lead they established earlier crowned them victorious.

Trais Hoisington put up an impressive 26 points for the Bluehawks, followed by Dylan Vaught with 12. Tanner Laws had nine points while both Greg Wadsworth and Dalton Hooten brought in four each. Joe Frields added three points and Ryan Hamby threw in a free throw.

During their second game of the week, Thompson Falls played Florence at home. The game started off slow but in favor of the Bluehawks.

Hoisington put up the first points of the night. Libby shot back with a barrage of points but Laws added more points to the total and Hooten threw in a free throw to tie the game 7-7 at the end of the first.

As the second quarter began, Libby pulled ahead and the Bluehawks were never able to recover. The second quarter ended 16-20.

Thompson Falls was able to put up two points in the third leaving the score at 22-30.

The fourth quarter was foul heavy and the term home court advantage did not live up to its full potential. Florence put up a number of free throws, inching their lead further. As the quarter came to an end, Florence ran down the clock and ended the game in their favor, 29-44.

Hoisington was again the lead scorer of the night bringing in nine points. Laws followed closely behind and the remainder of the points was split between Vaught, Hooten and Joe Lundberg.

The Bluehawks went on to compete against Superior on Tuesday night. Scores were unavailable at the time of press but the game was going to come down to some fierce competition.

The Bobcats remain undefeated this season and the hopes were the Bluehawks could change that. The team then goes on to compete against Troy on February 1 in an away game. Their last two home matches are quickly approaching as the season moves toward tournament play.
