Lady Hawks take on Lady Loggers and Falcons

THOMPSON FALLS – The Lady Hawks clawed their way back to the top in a Friday night game against the Libby Loggers.

The girls started the first quarter behind the Loggers only scoring 5 points to Libby’s 14 points. As determination set in, the ladies fought back harder and stronger, bringing in basket after basket. In the second quarter the ladies outscored Libby by four bringing the total to 15-20. They continued to outshoot their competition until they won the game 36-31.

The Lady Hawks took the nonconference victory and added it to their win column.

Logan Beckman scored 15 points during the game and Shey Hannum brought in seven. Madison Fitchett had five points, while both Angela Padden and Autrey Hannum brought in four points each. Erica Sorlie contributed a free throw to the team’s total.

Overall the win was a team effort and the girls came together to put up a fight.

In their next game, the ladies played Florence and lost the game by a handful of points. The final score was 58-63.

Thompson Falls favored the number 15 throughout the game as they put up 15 points in all of the first three quarters. The real deficit happened in the third quarter when Florence put up 27 points. The Lady Hawks were able to put up another 13 points in the fourth quarter but it wasn’t enough to take the win.

Autrey Hannum led the team with 18 points, with Beckman a close second with 17. Shey Hannum put up nine points; Sorlie had five; Fitchett scored three and both Madi Wheeler and Padden each threw in two points.

The ladies faced off Superior on Tuesday night but scores were unavailable at the time of press. The ladies will host Troy at home on Saturday, February 1.
