Fourteenth annual quilt show to be held

| July 22, 2014 6:43 PM

MINERAL COUNTY - “Lady of the Woods” will be the fourteenth annual quilt show held by the Cabin Fever Quilters of Mineral County on Friday and Saturday, August 1 and 2.

Held in conjunction with the Mineral County Fair in Superior, the show exhibits quilts made by local quilters employing a wide variety of techniques.

The 2013 Row Robin quilts and the 2014 Challenge quilts will be on display.

There will also be a display of service quilts made by the guild to be given away. The show will span from 10-6 p.m. each day in the multipurpose room of Superior High School.

Mineral and Sanders county residents are invited to enter homemade quilts to the Cabin Fever Quilters’ show.

We encourage quilters of all ages and abilities to enter the show. Quilted items can be any size and either hand or machine quilted.

The guild asks that you pre-register your quilt by July 26 in order to enter.

There is a limit of two quilts per non-member. Entry forms are found at the MSU extension office in Superior, Mary Anne’s Fabric in Plains, or you can contact quilt registration chairman Mary Burrows at 649-4833.

The featured quilter will be Leslie Garber of St. Regis.

Leslie began sewing on her grandmother’s treadle machine when in junior high and later sewed for her daughters and step-daughter.

She began quilting after moving to St. Regis and joined the guild in 2003.

A quilt will be raffled called “Lady of the Woods”, designed by Eric Gunson of Sisters, OR. The quilt is covered in paper pieced Lady Slipper orchids and was quilted by Patty O’Connor of Drummond.

The beneficiary of the raffle is the Mineral County 4-H.

Tickets are available from guild members, at Mineral County events, and from 4-H members.

The winner will be announced August 2 at 6 p.m.

Visitors to the quilt show will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite quilts, shop at a boutique of handmade quilted items and crafts, and win door prizes.

The vendors include Mary Anne’s Fabric of Plains, Kelly Joye’s Crafts of Power, Mont. and Crooked Nickel Quilt Design of Great Falls.
