Four locations fail compliance checks in Sanders County

| July 25, 2014 3:08 PM

SANDERS COUNTY - The Sanders County DUI Task Force, in partnership with local law enforcement agencies and Elevate Youth Coalition have conducted many compliance checks this summer.

“Out of the over 17 locations checked, we have only issued four citations,” said Krista Standeford of the DUI Task Force. Standeford helped coordinate the compliance checks. “Though this is great, our goal is a 100 percent pass rate. However, nearly 77 percent pass rate is a good place to start.”

According to Standeford, many businesses in Sanders County are doing the right thing; checking identification and declining the sale when the buyer is found to be underage.

Re-education of bartenders would be one of the best strategies for the bars that failed the checks.  In each of the situations that a citation was issued, ID was checked but the minor was still served alcohol.

The DUI Task Force offers Responsible Alcohol Sales and Server training to anyone interested. To find out more, please contact Krista Standeford at 546-4269.
