SUPERIOR –  Jarrod Tippens had multiple discus wins during his Superior track career.

One of those wins included a first place finish last season at district.

Superior’s track season ended May 31 after the two day state meet in Great Falls.

Overall, the boys finished the meet in 37th place  earning one point in 17 events scored.

The Superior girls track team didn’t finish in the top 34 for events scored.

The recent graduate placed sixth in state for the discus event with a throwing distance of 131-4.

For the top ten season standings Tippens was eighth overall for discus with an average distance of 136-6.

Another leader in the standings for the Bobcats, Tucker Smith was fourth in pole vault in the season standings with a average distance of 12-6.

Superior finished districts and divisionals strong. Even though they didn’t finish how they wanted to at the state competition, the team will be back next year for another go.

The players pushed hard to have the opportunity to compete at state.

Tippens is one of a few seniors who will leave holes for coach Jaimie Toivonen. She will have to look at the junior high athletes to possibly bring aboard next year.

Toivonen is prepared to work hard with her athletes in order to get them in the best shape as possible.
