DeBorgia ceremony honors flags of the past

DEBORGIA - On June 14, the American Legion Post #13 held their annual Flag Day Ceremonies at the Old School House in DeBorgia.  A Large crowd gathered to take part in the evening event and while the flags were being retired Phyllis Stephens led the group in ‘The Star Spangled Banner.’

Directly after the Flag Ceremony the American Legion had the drawing for their first annual raffle.  The first prize was $1,000 or a Henry 45-70 Lever Action Carbine. Ernie Ornelas from Superior won the raffle and chose the $1,000. The second place prize of $700 went to Bruce Charles of DeBorgia, while Mary Rue of St. Regis took the third place prize of $500 and Shirley Iwata from took $300 for fourth place. The fifth place prize of $200 went to Gene Brown, also from St. Regis.

A plaque was awarded to Nick Triplett for Master Ticket Salesman as he sold over 75 tickets.
