Lady Hawks sweep Troy
THOMPSON FALLS – With plenty of practice under their belts, the Lady Hawks traveled to Troy on Thursday, May 1 ready to win, and win they did.
The ladies swept Troy in a doubleheader, taking the first game with an impressive 29-7, and the second game with 18-9.
Both Haley Wilson and Tamara Brubaker came together for nine runs and then decided to keep with the theme of eight.
The duo brought in eight hits and eight RBIs in the opening game, while Samantha Johnson brought in four runs.
Lady Hawk catcher Kaylie Cox had a strong performance and was 4 for 5 with six runs and three RBIs. Lindsey Owens had three runs in the second game.
Brubaker was four for five and Wilson was four for four.
Wilson, Brubaker and pitcher Madi Fitchett brought in two points apiece.
With nice weather on the mound, Fitchett gave it her all and pitched for 12 innings. She only allowed 14 hits and she struck out nine of her competitors.
The ladies then went on to Mission where they earned points, but were unable to seal the deal. The ladies lost the game 6-17.
Fitchett was 1 for 2, as was Brubaker and Dylan Barrera.
The girls also went on to play Drummond on Tuesday, May 6 but scores were unavailable at the time of press.
