Letter to the Editor: Support Dale

| May 21, 2014 12:48 PM

Dear Editor,

I am writing this letter in support of my brother, Dale Magone, who is running for Mineral County Justice of the Peace.

As much as I hate to admit this, Dale is a very honest, hard working individual. He recently completed a Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Montana with a 3.57 (based on a 4.0 system) average, something which I admire him for greatly.

Dale has had extensive experience working with the public. After graduating from Superior High School, he and his wife completed Barber College and then opened a shop in Superior, where they worked together for several years. In addition to that career, he worked part time for Mountain Water, volunteered as a fireman, and acted as councilman and mayor for the town of Superior for several years. He also worked for State Farm Insurance, dealing with clients and claims on a daily basis.

My brother was born in Superior, grew up here, and after a few jaunts to the other areas of the country, has moved back to the area to spend the rest of his life in the place that he has always loved. He is very aware of the problems that Mineral County is dealing with, including our sorry economic climate. His compassion and his good judgement would most definitely influence his opinions on the bench.

As a judge, Dale would be very committed to upholding the laws of Montana and would be open to considering alternative options to incarceration, including alcohol school and/or counseling for first time drug and alcohol offenders, thus giving them a chance to get on with the rest of their lives. He is also in favor of setting up a community service program where low-income offenders could work off their fines by providing much needed help to area providers such as the local food bank and Women In Timber (a group dedicated to helping out the citizens of Mineral County).

Should Dale become Justice of the Peace, I am very confident that he would bring a very balanced and fair handed approach to that office. His integrity is unquestionable and I know that many people who know him would agree with my opinion.

I hope that you consider voting for my brother.

Diane Magone,

Superior
