Letter to the Editor: Write him in

In the upcoming primary election and in the general election, my feeling is the people of Mineral County are simply not being given the best candidate for Sheriff.

I sincerely believe that individual is Highway Patrolman Steve Gaston.

His integrity is without question. He is a strong Christian. After 17 years as a trooper, he knows this county deeply from a law enforcement perspective.

Steve raised a family here and has invested his life in this place. He is a combat veteran. When on the job, he deals regularly and effectively with our growing youth drug and alcohol problems.

Most importantly, if my wife – the love of my life for more than 40 years – were in a law enforcement life and death situation, there is no one I would trust more to make the right decisions for her than Steve Gaston.

He has absolutely no knowledge that I am making this public proposal: that we write in Steve Gaston for Sheriff of Mineral County.
