Bluehawks advance athletes to state meet

THOMPSON FALLS – Both boys and girls track and field teams saw success at the divisional tournament at the Missoula County Stadium.

The teams ended the meet both in third place with the same point total of 85.

For the boys, McKenzie Holt put up a strong front, finished in second place in the 100 with a time of 11.48 and third place in the 200 with 22.97. Dan Kanak of Thompson Falls finished the 200 in sixth place.

Thompson Falls had a strong showing in the 1,600, with Kyle Kennick taking second place with 44:47.43, Tanner Laws taking third and Logan Naegeli taking fourth. 

In the 300 hurdles, Josh Wulfekuhle took sixth place with 44.74, while the 1,600 relay team finished in third place with a time of 3:38.39.

For the girls, Autrey Hannum placed in second during the 100 hurdles with at time of 16.40 and Angela Padden came in fifth place. 

Shey Hannum finished in fourth place in the 300 hurdles with a time of 49.52, while the 1,600 relay team finished sixth place with 4:26.83.

In the javelin competition, Logan Beckman took third with a distance of 114-10 followed closely by teammate Shasta Wilson who finished in fifth. 

S. Hannum took first in the high jump with 5-2, while her sister A. Hannum came in second place an inch behind her. S. Hannum also took first in the triple jump with 33-10, while Autrey took second with 33-6 1/2.

The athletes will move on to the state tournament, which will span May 30-31. As they prepare for the meet they have all worked so hard to get to, the athletes look forward to the event.
