NOXON – Three Red Devils will be advancing to the state track meet in Great Falls at the end of the week.

According to Head Coach Matt Havens, two of the placers were a pleasant surprise.

Bradey Wilson took second place in the 1,600, Zach Osborne took third place in the high jump and Austin Johnson placed fifth in the 3,200.

Wilson was expected to continue on, setting himself up for success throughout the season.

In all, Noxon sent 15 athletes to the divisional tournament and all the athletes gave it everything they had.

“Overall, the kids did really well. (There were) quite a few personal records for their events,” Coach Havens said. “The kids competed right were I thought they would.”

The athletes also got some invaluable knowledge: more experience.

“The biggest thing that we came away with was experience,” Coach Havens said. “With our team so young, we are always looking for more experience.”

The coach was beyond pleased with the kids and is excited to see how the athletes will do at the state meet, which will span May 29 to May 31. The meet will offer the toughest competition of the year and is what the kids have been continually working towards all season.

“We, Teri Wilkinson (and I), cannot be any happier with them. The kids are even looking forward to next year already and what they need to do to get to state,” Coach Havens said. “And so are we.”

The athletes are more than ready to show everyone what they can do on both the track and field. The state meet is the perfect opportunity for them to do just that.
