Superior faces tough opposition on the road
CHARLO/ARLEE – The Lady Bobcats took on two of the toughest teams in their division last week, losing both matches on the road.
The week started out against Charlo which defeated the team from Superior three games to one. Although the team started out slow after a long travel time, the Lady Bobcats rallied to make a contest out of the match, taking the third set and keeping the fourth set close. Arlee would end up only beating the team by two points in the fourth set.
McKenzie Stagger led the team with 10 assists and four aces. Morgan Sharp also had 10 assists. Danielle Ewoniuk had seven of Superior’s 25 kills while Marissa Koke had four blocks.
The second game of the week was against Arlee and again Superior could only hold on for four games. Head Coach Beth Janney said she was still seeing improvement even late in the season.
“We had a really good offensive performance against Arlee,” Janney said. “They played really well. Arlee is one of the best teams but our girls weren’t letting anything touch the ground.”
The team plays Granite and Two Eagle River this week. The Two Eagle River match is at home starting at 7 p.m. for varsity on Saturday, Oct. 11.
