SUPERIOR – The Superior Lady Bobcats followed suit alongside their football counterparts last week, winning their homecoming match against Two Eagle River in four sets.

Led by Jordan Mueller who had 12 kills and Danielle Ewoniuk who had five aces, the team’s offense proved too much for their opponents across the net. On defense, Nadeia Ewoniuk had eight digs while McKenzi Stager had one block at the net and six assists.

Head coach Beth Janney said despite a new lineup of players, some of them playing new positions, the younger members of the team came through in the clutch.

“Some girls that don’t normally play varsity got into the game and did a phenomenal job,” Janney said. “Emily Riddle did a good job. Sammi Francis made some plays for us and it was neat to give them a chance to play. They really came together as a team.”

Janney said with districts just around the corner, her priority was finalizing a lineup and working on the confidence of the team as a whole.

“They have the fundamentals down,” Janney said. “They have the athleticism. Now we need the confidence to get the job done.”

Superior played Plains on Tuesday but results were not available at the time of press. The Lady Bobcats will play a cross county match against Alberton on Thursday, Oct. 16 and then Hot Springs on Friday, Oct. 17.
