Samaritans step in

| September 9, 2014 2:52 PM

MINERAL COUNTY - The Board of Directors of Five Valleys Crimestoppers, which also serves Mineral County, would like to recognize numerous citizens who recently aided an assault victim and apprehended the assailant.

On the night of July 8, 2014, a woman was attacked on the Higgins Street Bridge by a man.  Bystanders nearby immediately rushed to her aid and interrupted the assault, but the suspect escaped and fled on foot. Other bystanders successfully pursued this individual and held him for the police.

Another citizen turned in an abandoned bicycle, later identified as the one used by the same suspect in an earlier attempted assault on a woman on the Kim Williams Trail.

The willingness of these citizens to ‘get involved’ speaks well for the Western Montana community.
