Woman struck by car, condition unknown

| September 9, 2014 5:15 PM

PLAINS - A woman was transported to Clark Fork Valley Hospital after she was struck by a car on East Stanton Street in Plains.

According to Plains Police Chief Shawn Emmett, Laurel Hamilton had just pulled up to a residence on the street and was walking around the back of her vehicle when a driver hit both Hamilton and her car.

The driver of the truck, Geraldine Barton, was reaching for something on the floorboard of her vehicle when she struck Hamilton, Emmett said.

No alcohol or drugs were involved in the accident. Emmett said Barton would be issued a reckless driving citation, as well as a citation for driving without a valid driver's license.

Hamilton was transported to CFVH by Plains Ambulance, but her injuries were unclear at the time. Scanner traffic stated she was in and out of consciousness. Someone on scene said it was likely head trauma.

"It's too soon to tell," Emmett said about Hamilton's condition.

The accident took place today, Sept. 9 at approximately 4:20 p.m.
