Thompson Falls hosts Loyola

THOMPSON FALLS – The Lady Hawks fell to Loyola Sacred Heart at their first home match of the year. Although they put their all on the court, it wasn’t enough to edge ahead of their competition.

Thompson Falls lost 0-3 (11-25, 14-25, 23-25) in the nonconference Class B action.

Senior Logan Beckman had 13 assists during the game, helping to lead the team.

Although the first sets did not take too much time to complete, the third set was when the Lady Hawks battled to get back into the game. In an aggressive front the ladies led the competition for much of the set, and later kept up.

Thompson Falls gave it their best shot, but ultimately lost the third set by a small margin of two points.

Overall the team had 18 kills, three blocks, 27 digs, 17 assists and four aces.

Shey Hannum had a strong night, putting up a fierce front on the net. Hannum had seven kills, and one block. Beckman and Madison Wheeler brought in the remainder of the two blocks for the Lady Hawks, while Megan McKenzie had eight digs, leading the team. Beckman had 13 assists and Sierra Sorlie had three aces.

The ladies next game was on Tuesday, Sept. 9 against Polson but scores were unavailable at the time of press.

Thompson Falls would also play Ronan on Saturday, Sept. 13 in an away game.
