Farewell and take care
Two years, one month, and 17 days. That’s how long I’ve been able to call the Clark Fork Valley Press and Mineral Independent office my second home. With seldom a day off, it’s easy for me to say that these papers have not only been my life for the past few years, but they have been my passion – a burning passion that is hard for me to put out.
I’ll be leaving the papers with a bittersweet taste in my mouth. As I pack my bags for Centralia, Washington, I can’t help but realize what a great place I received my start.
After countless hours, long days and an immense amount of change, I have seen the product that I love grow stronger and gain more momentum in a community that deserves a strong local news source.
Not only have I seen the papers grow, but I’ve seen myself grow. I’ve put down roots in this community, one that will always have a special place in my heart. My time has come to leave my little ranch on the hill, leaving my chickens and my boyfriend behind, to chase a dream that burns so deeply within me that I could never extinguish it.
My dream has always been to change the world with words, and although I’m far from accomplishing that goal, I’m happy that the first step in reaching that objective was accomplished here in the beautiful counties I’ve had the pleasure to work in.
Not only have I met some of the nicest people, but they have welcomed me into the lives of their families and friends, something I’ll forever be grateful for.
I want to thank my family here at the office for everything they’ve helped me through. They were always here to guide me in the right direction, point out an error, or to provide me with plenty of treats for my sweet tooth. I’ll truly be leaving with the knowledge that I’ll always have someone back here in Plains if I ever need anything.
Professionally, the list of people is larger than we have space here. I have a great appreciation for those who have worked closely with me, helping me bring news to the communities of both counties. Without you, none of this would have been possible.
Many of you I will cherish for a lifetime as I look back at the start of my career and I hope you all know what a huge impact you’ve had on me as a person, both professionally and personally. Never have I seen a community with such passion and life within them.
I can only hope that my next job is half as fulfilling as this one.
Make sure to keep an eye out for me, because you better believe I’ll be back for weekend visits, especially to visit the one and only cowboy extraordinaire.
Thank you all for making my time here at the Clark Fork Valley Press and the Mineral Independent one of the best times in my life.
