CNSC readies fundraiser

| September 26, 2014 5:33 PM

Cancer Network of Sanders County is gearing up for their 13th Annual Fall Fundraiser.  This year we are holding a “Brats, Hops & Grapes” event, October 4, 2014 from 5:30 – 9:00 pm at the Sanders County Fairgounds Pavilion.  Tickets are available for $30/person and can be  purchased at Garden Gift & Floral in Plains, D & D Liquor in Thomson Falls, or by calling 826-4278.  This year we will have a Silent Auction and a Live Auction featuring Mr. Kevin Hill as our auctioneer.  The live auction will include Griz/Cat Football Tickets, Griz/Cat Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tickets, an Adirondack Chair and a Garden Bench just to mention a few of the items we have!   There will also be live music provided by Troy Big Medicine DeRoche, an internationally known Native American flute player and composer.  He also hand-makes his own instruments.

Each year, this event has grown and is one of the largest fund raising activities CNSC holds.  Since our inception in 2001, we have given over 650 gifts for nearly $250.000!  The good thing is, more people now know about us.  The bad thing is we are distributing more gifts which means we are still battling cancer at a high level in Sanders County.  Money from this event usually funds about 1/4 of the requests we receive.

Each year, the medical community locally as well as Kalispell and Missoula help sponsor our event along with First Security Bank and Rocky Mountain Bank.  Other businesses are more than generous and support us with items for the live and silent auctions and for helping with supplying the food and drinks.  Other groups like Woman’s Club, Plains High School and Cowgirls Kicking Cancer support us by helping with the auctions, serving food, setting up for the event and cleaning up.  Kathy Miller, CNSC President says “All in all, it is a wonderful showing of community support for a very worthy cause.  We could never be able to have this event without all the help we get and without this event, we couldn’t give our gifts to Sanders County residents to help them battle this horrible disease.”  Because of all of the volunteer efforts and donations, all the money raised at this event will go directly to those who need some financial assistance with their battle.  CNSC invites everyone to come join in an evening of fun.
