Children's Theatre in Plains
<p>The Plains Woman's Club helped to bring the Missoula Children's Theatre to Plains last week. Local students took part in a production of Blackbeard the Pirate last Saturday at Plains High School.</p>
PLAINS – The Missoula Children’s Theatre was in Plains this week to help local students put on a weekend production for the community.
The play, “Blackbeard the Pirate” was performed last Saturday evening at Plains High School.
The play was hosted in the school’s gymnasium and featured a colorful cast of characters from pirates to parrots in addition to crocodiles and seaweed creatures.
The performance focused on the tale of the pirate Blackbeard, his famous treasure and his crew, a group including the likes of Bluebeard, Rebeard, Greybeard, Yellowbeard and Peachfuzz.
The story is told from the perspective of the narrator, Jolly Rodger, who tells the Beach Bums of the famous pirate and his treasure.
Costumes for many different characters were colorful and eye-catching with the seaweed creatures, parrots and sailors of the Royal Navy sporting some impressive outfits.
The Plains Woman’s Club, the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation, and the Plains School helped to bring the Missoula Children’s Theatre to Plains for the production.
The Missoula Children’s Theatre has been busy throughout Sanders County over the past few months with stops at schools in Hot Springs, Thompson Falls and Trout Creek, in addition to last weekend’s play in Plains.
