Obituary; Catherine Pemberton

1923-2015

Katie died at home at age 91 after a long illness. She was born September 27, 1923 to John N. Helterline and Rose Ellen Green in Plains, Montana. She was the oldest of ten children and grew up on the home farm. She attended schools in Plains and Montana State Normal College in Dillon, MT. She married Roland Pemberton of Goodwin, Arkansas and when he went off to war, she taught grade school in Plains. After the war, they made their home in Salt Lake City where they had a good life and raised six wonderful and active children. She was always busy with some project and enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting, quilting, painting and many crafts. She was a member of the Carmelite Monastery Tertiary Carmelites for many years and taught them to make their famous caramels and English toffee.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roland in 1976 and her son Glen in 1982. She is survived by five children, Anna Reinhardt, Kathleen Carlson, Marie Buczek, John and Joseph Pemberton, four sisters, two brothers, numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews who will miss her very much. A Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday March 23, 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 670 South 1100 East. A Vigil Service was held Sunday March 22, 7:00 p.m. at the Neil O’Donnell & Sons Mortuary, 372 East 100 South.
