TROY – The Plains-Hot Springs Trotters started their spring season off on the right foot, winning their first two softball games of 2015.

The Trotters went on the road to face off against Troy in a doubleheader to kick of their spring campaign.

Plains-Hot Springs won both of the games outslugging Troy in both the first and second games played last Friday.

The Trotters earned a 17-7 win in the day’s first competition and capped off the doubleheader with another victory, this one by a score of 11-4.

During the first game of the twin bill Hailey Coe led Plains-Hot Springs to victory from the circle, earning the win, while helping herself out at the plate.

Coe went 2-4 in game one with a double.

On the offensive side of the plate Josey Carr and Diana Woodward also had extra base hits for the Trotters.

Carr went 1-4 in the game and Woodward was 3-5 from the leadoff spot, a total which included two doubles.

In the second and final game of the day, Jessica Thompson earned the win from the circle with substantial support form her offense, which tallied 11 runs to earn the Trotters’ second win of their opening day.

Carr was 1-3 with a double in the team’s final game.

Up next for Plains-Hot Springs will be an inter-county rivalry game against the Thompson Falls Bluehawks.

The two teams were scheduled to open their respective season against one another on Tuesday, March 24, but inclement weather forced postponement of the initial season opener.

The game was made up on Tuesday, March 31, scores and statistics were unavailable at press time.

With the two wins over Troy, the Trotters start this spring’s campaign 2-0. Last season, the Trotters took home third place at the state tournament in Great Falls in May of 2014.
