Local business owner revives hangout

SUPERIOR – While the location may be in an adjacent county, it is one local business owner that is responsible for reopening the doors of an establishment that had remained dormant for almost a year in nearby Sanders County.

As of last week, the Naughty Pine saloon and restaurant in Trout Creek was open for business thanks to the efforts of Superior resident and business owner Ronna LaPierre. La Pierre said after a soft-opening to work out the inevitable kinks in a newly established operation, the place was open for business and looking forward to serving the lifeblood of any bar/ restaurant type business, the locals.

“We did a soft opening and we put the word out on Facebook,” LaPierre said. “We just kind of threw open the doors. We were still in the process of organizing things. We have been working on cleaning and organizing the facility for about two weeks now.”

LaPierre said even though the place was under new management, she wanted to keep a name that many people in the community recognize.

“I love the name,” LaPierre said. “We have a really cute logo that was designed by my son, Nathan LaPierre.”

She said the place had been closed since June 30 of last year. She said the previous owners were not from the area. LaPierre said the acquisition of the establishment was something that had been on her mind for a while.

“I was trying to buy it about three years ago,” LaPierre said. “We had been in the Naughty Pine years ago and I just fell in love with the place. .”

One of the things LaPierre said was most important to her in reopening the Naughty Pine was taking care of the core customers that keep an establishment like hers open for business.

“We appreciate all business but especially the locals,” LaPierre said. “They are the heart of the business. They keep our doors open so we want to take care of them. We just want to offer a fun place to go to relax and enjoy themselves. We will have a jukebox and it will just be an overall fun atmosphere that people can enjoy.”
