The hunt for Easter eggs in Paradise

PARADISE – In the early afternoon of Easter Sunday families gathered at the Paradise School for an annual tradition.

With children in tow area parents lined the parking lot of the old elementary school waiting for this year’s Easter egg hunt to begin.

After breaking the kids up in to age groups, each allotted a specific portion of the school’s grounds to search for eggs, the kids were turned loose on the dot at 1 p.m.

As the children were given the go ahead to begin their search, enthusiastic youths could be seen running every which way in their quest for Easter eggs.

After several minutes of searching the children returned to their groups and had their eggs counted up to see who among them had found the most eggs out of each age group.

Prizes were awarded to the first and second place winners in each age group, with awards going to both boys and girls.

For the youngest group of Easter egg hunters, those two years and under.

There was a tie for first place among the boys. Jayce Peterson and Colt Browning tied for first and Trace Browning took second for the boys.

For the girls Lindsay Moony finished in first.

The next aged group, three year olds through kindergarteners saw four winners.

Calvin Campbell took first and Brayden Colyer took second.

On the girls side McKenzie Rich finished first and Freya Brekke finished second.

In the first grade through third grade age group Romeo McGarett finished first and Keegan Dagiau finished second for the boys.

For the girls Cassidy O’Keefe took first and Alexis Demming took second.

For the fourth through sixth graders Trenis McDonald took first for the boys and Kenna Simon took first for the girls.

Jack McAllister was second for the boys and Halley Barrows was second for the girls.

The final age group, seventh and eighth graders featured only girls and Kylee Altmiller took first after finding 41 eggs, while Kara Altmiller took second finding 28 eggs.
